Falsely accused, unjustly convicted, Johnnie spent 30 years in Illinois prisons. Though he was given clemency and released in 2006, he is still fighting to clear his name.

Here are four ways you can join him in his struggle.

Number 1. Contact IL Governor Blagojevich

Call Illinois Governor Blagojevich at 217-782-0244, or follow this link which will take you to the Governor’s contact page where you can email him.

First, tell the Governor what the issue is:
In 1977 when Johhnie Lee Savory 14 years old and living in Peoria, IL, he was falsely accused and unjustly convicted of a double homicide. He spent 30 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.

And second, explain what the Governor must do:
Please order DNA testing on the evidence used to convict Johnnie, which the State's Attorney for Peoria County, Kevin Lyons, has refused to do.

It doesn't matter if you are from Illinois. While Johnnie was falsely accused and unjustly convicted in the land of Lincoln, his fight for justice knows no borders.

Number 2. Invite Johnnie to speak at your church, synagogue, mosque, school, or civic group

Johnnie is an experienced and powerful public speaker.

A member of Chicago Coalition Coalition for the Homeless' Speakers Bureau, he has used his story to inspire, educate, and empower people throughout Illinois.

Johnnie charges $250-500 for an engagement. In lieu of money, Johnnie will also accept 100 people to contact the Governor for him for payment.

Currently Johnnie is only able to speak in the state of Illinois, but soon he will be free to travel throughout the country.
